Jayapura, 20/1 (Jubi) – Twelve personnel of Company Level Unit (Satuan Setingkat Kompi/SSK) of TNI-AD (the Army) were removed to Puncak Jaya District in order to protect this area.
The rotation of the Army’s personnel was confirmed by the Military Region Commander XVII Cenderawasih to the reporters on Monday afternoon (20/1).
“Currently there is a rotation of personnel to Puncak Jaya,” Commander said.
He further confirmed there is an accumulation of army personnel at the time of rotation, but there is nothing to worry about.
“We rotated the old personnel with the new one. And it is cause the accumulation of personnel before they were returned. There is nothing to worry about in Puncak Jaya,” he said.
The Army Chief of Staffs Asked the Military Region Commander to Prepare Its Personnel
Meanwhile, KASAD (the Army Chief of Staffs), General Budiman, asked the Military Region Commander XVII Cenderawasih to control the armed civilian group in Puncak Jaya in appropriate with the applied regulations.
“We must handle with exact and sure against the armed group. Commander, the initiative is on your hands and prepare your personnel with good,” General Budiman said in the videoconference session in Military Region Command Headquarter, Monday afternoon (20/1).
In this occasion, the Army Chief of Staffs asked the soldiers of Indonesian Army to help the local government in providing the priorities to the development of public welfare and education for the Papuan society.
“Thus we must encourage our brothers to be more progress, more prosperous, and to be fair and good. But if they were armed, it is your duty to overcome it in accordance with the law,” the Army Chief of Staffs said to the soldiers of Military Command XVII Cenderawasih. (Jubi/Indrayadi TH/P.
