Merauke, 25/5 (Jubi) Thirteen local soccer clubs are competing in the Merauke Football Association League, the Chairman of the Merauke League Committee, Elyas Mite said on Saturday (24/5).
For the first time the competition will take longer, 72 matches until September 2014, Mite told tabloidjubi.com during a technical meeting.
“We also don’t restrict the ages of players who will take part in the competition,” he said.
He further said the purpose of the competition is to produce as well as to promote young players to compete in the higher level such as the Nusantara League, which is consisting of Division I, and Division II.
Meanwhile, deputy chairman Adi Zulkarnaen asked support from all parties not only from the local government of Merauke but also the employers and investors. “The more frequent the competition is held, the more young talented players we’ll get,” he said. (Jubi/Frans L Kobun/rom)
