Jakarta, 28/1 (Jubi) – Governor of Papua, Lukas Enembe said firmly, shooting incidents that have occurred in some areas in Papua are not to ask for independence, but it is more on the criminal motive.
“The shooting happened in Papua is not to ask for independence, but it is more on criminal motive. Interestingly, every time there is a shooting, there will be a demand. So, this is pure criminal.”said Lukas Enembe, Papua Governor told reporters after meeting with President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono at Bogor palace in West Java on Tuesday (28/1).
Because of frequent shooting still occurred in some areas in Papua, as a governor, he himself has asked Chief of Papua Police to conduct law enforcement operations because this is a pure criminal incident.
“I’ve asked the police chief to conduct law enforcement operations and it must be done based on the state law. Yet, you have to remember, not all areas in Papua are considered as conflict area. And if there is a conflict not all regions ask for independence but it is more on local issues.” he said.
At the same place, West Papua Governor,Abraham Octavianus Aturury said, there is no struggle asking for independence in Papua, especially in West Papua, which until now is in a peaceful situation.
“I think asking for independence does not exist because Papua is in the frame of Unitary States of The Republic of Indonesia ( NKRI). No asking freedom again. “said Abraham.
Meanwhile, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs , Djoko Suyanto said, there is no pursuit operations by the military in Papua and West Papua any longer. The Government is only enforcing the law against criminals.
In addition, the Government also continues to appeal to all parties, both the central government, local government and other community members to invite those who are still holding the weapon in Papua to return to the embrace of the motherland and do not commit acts of violence.
