Jayapura , 12/2 ( Jubi ) – The live broadcast of Persipura Jayapura’s home games has resulted in lower revenues from ticket sales, a club official said.
“At the first game, we got Rp200 million from selling the tickets . The number was very small compared to the cost of operations for the game, ” said Chairman of Persipura working committee, Fachrudin Pasolo, on Wednesday ( 2/12 ).
Pasolo said he had not received a report on proceeds from the the second game, but he expected it would be low.
” I do not know the exact figure , but in the first game we could only make Rp200 million, while organizing every game costs Rp 150 million, ” he said .
He blamed the slumping ticket sales on live broadcasts, which led to fans watching the matches on television instead of going to the Mandala stadium.
“Live broadcasts don’t give additional profits to us . Rp 200 million per match is small revenue “said Fachrudin, who is also Head of Jayapura Municipality’s Revenue Department .
Facrudin said Jayapura people are less enthusiastic in supporting their club than fans of other clubs.
“Look at Arema and Bandung , whether live or not, the stadiums are always full, unlike here,” he said .
One senior of sports journalist, Domingoes Mampioper, said the lack of interest in football is not the result of live broadcasts, but also because of poor promotion.
“Clubs that enjoy ardent supports provide member club tickets, membership cards and promotes the club and its products online. These things should be improved by the committee especially to foster a sense of joy and love for Persipura,” said Mampioper . ( Jubi / Sindung/ Tina )
