Jayapura, 6/2 (Jubi) – Perseru Serui have yet to show their true strength as they are new comers in the Indonesian Super League competition, a former player said.
Perseru held Persela Lamongan to a 0-0 draw on Wednesday (6/2).
” I think the players need to improve their skills and mental maturity in this competition,” said Marthen Rumere, who in the 80s played as a midfielder for Mandala Jaya, a club in the Persipura first division.
He told tabloidjubi.com that the most important thing is that the club is still competing in the ISL.
Perseru Serui Manager, Jance Banua, said the ‘Orange Sea Horse ‘ should show improved performance in each game. He said he was disappointed because one of the club’s key players, Octovianus Maniani did not show up for training two days in row. Banua said Octo’s behavior was unacceptable and he had raised the issue with the club’s management.
Perseru coach Robby Maruanaya said that Octo might have considered himself the most important player because he plays in the national squad but warned that he is not indispensable. He said blamed the failure to win three points at the Mandala Stadium on the players not following instructions.
Meanwhile, Persela Lamongan blamed the defeat to Persipura Jayapura on fatigue after a long flight to the Papuan capital.
Persela coach Eduard Tjong praised Perseru wingers Octo and Jokshan Ama, saying they did excellent crosses.
He said the Mandala Stadium was a neutral place so his players had less pressure. (Jubi/Dominggus
