Jayapura, 20/6 (Jubi) – Sentani Lake Festival (FDS) which took place at Kalkote Tourism area in East Sentani, Papua on Thursday (19/6), finally managed to break two of Indonesia Museum Record (MURI).
Both cultural activities are painting on bark along the 100 meters and making the largest pottery or craft from clay to make papeda or called Sampe.
The MURI award was given from chairman of MURI, Jaya Soeprana to Agus Ongge and Martha Ohee, who successfully painted on the bark along the 100 meters, and carving Sentani motif on it. Martha Ohee said that she is quite happy with the award, and he hopes the award will be a motivation for the next generation in the village, in order to continue the creativity as a part in maintaining cultural values in the village.
Earlier, deputy chairman of festival Committee, Hanna Hikoyabi explained, that bark painting has been done in rough shape by two craftsmen, Martha Ohee and Agus Ongge. Each made 50 meters and connected up to 100 meters.
“Bark painting represented 24 cultural leaders or called “ Ondoafi” who are at Sentani lake. There will be 100 artisans sharing bark of village existing in Jayapura that simultaneously painting on the bark,” she said.
The committee will also provide an opportunity to Menkokesra, Agung Laksono, his wife and other state official to paint on bark. (Jubi / Albert/ Tina)
