Jayapura, 21/3 (Jubi) – Solidarity for Indigenous Papuan Traders (Solpap) said it concerned the market development plan for indigenous Papuan traders has been used by those in the executive to receive funds for each year.
The Secretary of Solpap Robert Jitmau said Solpap would continue to ensure the construction of traditional market for the indigenous Papuan traders. “We must do something. If not, we never knew when it could be realized. We also worried that certain parties used it to get funds for other reasons,” Jitmau told to tabloidjubi.com on Friday (21/3).
He further said the objective of Solpap is only to accommodate the indigenous Papuan traders to their marketplace. “Once it’s realized, we would hand over the responsibility of management to the local government. Trough the regional company, the government could create several management divisions for the traders, such as the divisions of cooperation, working capital, development and monitoring et cetera,” he said.
Earlier, a Papuan woman trader, Yuliana Pigay said she and her colleagues would never stop their struggling to get a permanent marketplace in Jayapura City even though they have done it for 13 years. “We’ve always been cheating and receiving the lip services from the government’s officials for long time. We were mad and upset because as mothers, we are their parents. Last time, the funds were 10 billion and now are becoming 45 billion. But we didn’t know where it goes and there is no progress of market development,” said Pigay.
She further said the land issue has always been a reason for the government though they have allocated budget to build a marketplace. “We wonder because the officials has came and gone as well as the parliament’s members. The new government came replacing the former but the marketplace development was remaining the same. Could we just wait to our God Jesus to build us a marketplace?” she said. (Jubi/Arjuna/rom)
