Manokwari, Jubi – The West Papua Police described the situation in West Papua and Southwest West Papua as calm and conducive following the polling and vote counting.
West Papua Police spokesperson Comr. Ongky Isgunawan stated that one day after the election, on Thursday (15/2/2024), the security situation in the provinces of West Papua and Southwest West Papua remained safe and conducive.
“The police personnel deployed to each polling station are still present at their respective locations until further orders to withdraw back to the West Papua Police,” he added.
Isgunawan urged all members of the community to maintain the security situation and conducive atmosphere to prevent any incidents that may harm anyone during the 2024 Election period.
He conveyed the gratitude of the West Police chief, Insp. Gen. Johnny Eddizon Isir, to the community for their good cooperation in organizing the 2024 Election, ensuring it proceeded safely and smoothly.
“The Police also express gratitude to stakeholders, including the military, local governments, the General Election Commission (KPU), and the Election Supervisory Board (Bawaslu), for their successful organization of the 2024 Election,” he said. (*)
