Manokwari, Jubi- The West Papua National Liberation Army (TPNPB) warns gold panners throughout Papua to stop their activity, otherwise, the TPNPB says it will kill all those who come to do gold panning.

“The TPNPB headquarters has received reports that our troops were involved in the killing of gold panners in Kewas, Bintang Mountains on November 5,” said TPNPB spokesman Sebby Sambom in a press release received by Jubi on Monday, November 7, 2022.

There was indeed a recent attack on the mining site by an armed group, as reported by Antara News Agency on Sunday. Bintang Mountains Police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Cahyo Sukarnito said an armed group led by Bocor Sobolim attacked a miner’s camp in Kawe, killing a mine worker.

“The attack on Saturday night killed Rolmo Aldus Tuenoa (29). He died from the injuries. The location of the mine is close to another crime scene last July,” Cahyo said.

Sebby Sambom stated that any Indonesian worker who enters the Papuan forest to exploit natural resources must immediately leave Papua.

“Leave the illegal gold mining sites and the war zones immediately. Stop all work on the trans-Papua road project pushed by President Joko Widodo,” he said.

“The year for revolution is near. We are not playing games,” Sambom added. (*)
