Jayapura, Jubi – The Provincial Government of Papua stipulates
Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP) in 2018 which is amounting to Rp
2,895,650, or increase about 8.71 percent compared to 2017 amounting
to Rp 2,663,646.
The decision has been reviewed according to government regulation
number 78 of 2015 on wages.

“I hope that the increase in the UMP could have an impact on the
community, especially the workers in Papua,” Papua Secretary Hery
Dosinaen told reporters in Jayapura on Wednesday (November 1).

He urged all companies in Papua to implement the decision. “We will
convey this decision in writing to all companies,” Hery added.

Head of Papua Province Manpower Office, Yan Piet Rawar, said that the
number of UMP 2018 is based on inflation which is count on 3.72
percent and GRDP 4.99 percent.

“We are referring to government regulation no 78 on wages,” Rawar said.

According to him, the determination of the UMP is done by a difficult
two-way trial process so that the wage council has found a number
agreement.

It is difficult to determine the amount of UMP 2018 because there are
differences in perception, some ask to be decided without reference to
the government regulation number 78, 2015, and the wage council should
partly refers to the monthly survival survey. “It means that the value
is higher,” Rawar added.

In fact, he explained it was higher last year than the formula that
has been set at 1.14 percent.

“For that reason, this year UMP stipulates the regulation, which is
calculated based on rising inflation and GRDP,” he said. (tabloidjubi.com/Zely)
