Jayapura, Jubi/AFC – Two goals from Robertino Pugliara and a stunning strike from Ian Kabes saw Persipura Jayapura take outright lead of AFC Cup Group E after defeating JSW Bengaluru of India 3-1 at Mandala Stadium on Tuesday (10/3/2015).

Kabes put the hosts in front in the match between the two table-toppers on the fourth minute, before Pugliara added a second midway through the first half.

“Persipura played good throughout the game and made it difficult for us to get back into the tie. And Robertino (Pugliara) played very well as a midfilder and striker. Also Kone and Salossa. But for me, Robertino is the man of the match today,” said Westwood.

But AFC was chose Ian Luis Kabes as man of the match for this game.

“We thank God for this result, and thanks to my players as each one of them worked hard to get the three points,” said Persipura coach Lessa Filho Oswaldo.

Lessa said Persipura had many chances to score even more goals, but in this AFC Cup winning by one goal or 10 goals is the same.

“Now we must forget this result and look ahead to our Matchday Three tie and prepare to play with Maziya in Maldives.” added Lessa.

The only goal for Bengaluru was scored by Vineeth Chekiyot headed a cross from captain Rino Anto in stoppage time. (Victor Mambor)
