Jayapura, 18/3 (Jubi) – Persipura Jayapura continued its winning streak on home turf in the Group E of the AFC Cup with a decisive 3-0 victory over New Radiant SC of Maldives on Tuesday (18/3).
Imanuel Wanggai scored two goals and Ian Kabes added one at Mandala Stadium to cement Persipura’s position as the leaders of Group E with seven points.
The hosts went on the offensive from the start even with the absence of skipper Boaz Solossa, who picked up two yellow cards in the previous games.
Persipura managed to elude New Radiant defenders for several times early in the game but shots were blocked by the goalkeeper.
New Radiant had their goal-scoring opportunity in 22nd minute but failed to find the back of the net.
Ian Kabes scored the opener in the 42nd minute from the penalty spot. The score remained 1-0 until break. Immanuel Wanggai went on a rampage and scored two more fror Persipura in the 47th and 61st minute to seal the for the Black Pearls. (Jubi/Arjuna/rom)
