Jayapura, Jubi – The chairman of Persipura Jayapura, Benhur Tomi Mano, said eight Persipura players would participate in a friendly match in Port Moresby to celebrate the 40th anniversary of PNG’s Independence Day on 16 September 2015.

They were scheduled to arrive in Papua New Guinea on 13 September to join the Reliv Christa team.
“It was confirmed by Persipura Manager Rudy Maswi about eight players who are going to Papua New Guinea. Persipura is currently in recess, whether they are going or not, it’s up to them,” said Mano in Jayapura City (9/9/2015).

However, he admitted doesn’t know which players were going. “I don’t have further information,” he said. A source within Persipura told Jubi that four of eight players are Ferinando Pahabol, Eunike Pahabol, Ricardo Salampessy and Gerald Pangkali.

Separately, the General Secretary of Persipura Rocky Bebena revealed he had no information yet about the names of those players. “I don’t know yet about who’s going to go, but Ferinando Pahobol did call me on Wednesday (9/9/2015) telling he will play in the match,” he said in Jayapura on Wednesday (9/9/2015).

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Association of Former Persipura Player (AMPP) Benny Jensenem said there would be seven Persipura players to join the Reliv Chrysta that recently return from one-month try out in Netherlands. “They have trained under supervision of Coach Hengky Heipon ahead to their departure,” he said. Further he added the team already took exercise at Trikora Stadium and Barnabas Jouwe Stadium to finalize their preparation for the next week match in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.  (Munir/Dominggus Mampioper/rom)
