Jakarta, 28/1 (Jubi) – Lukas Enembe, Governor of Papua and Abraham Octavianus Aturury, West Papua Governor along with the regents, Papuan People’ Assembly( MRP) and the Papua Legislative Council ( DPRP) met President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono at the Presidential Palace in Bogor, Tuesday (28/1).

In a meeting that was closed to the public and lasted approximately three hours, President Yudhoyono was accompanied by Vice President Boediono and the Ministers as Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, Djoko Suyanto; Coordinating Minister for People’s Welfare, Agung Laksono; Coordinating Minister, Hatta Rajasa; Education and Culture Minister, M Nuh ; head of the State Intelligence Agency, Marciano Noorman ; Police chief, Sutarman; TNI Commander,Moeldoko; Health Minister, Nafsiah Mboi; Deputy Justice Minister, Deny Indrayana; Deputy Finance Minister, Any Ratnawati; Deputy Minister of Public Works, Dardak Herman and Head of the Presidential Work Unit for Development Monitoring and Control, Kuntoro Mangkusubroto.

Coordinating Minister, Djoko Suyanto said that in the meeting the governor of Papua and West Papua will report the outline of development progress in their respective areas. Both will report to the President on the evaluation of the Special Autonomy Law for Papua Province in accordance with the instructions of the President. “Progress report on the presidential mandate of what it wants to develop regarding of Special Autonomy. There has been 12 meetings and has produced initial draft which must be synchronized with West Papua and Papua.It is just discussed with the Ministry of Internal Affairs. “he said.

Since Lukas Enembe inauguration as governor of Papua, the President has mandated the Governor of Papua and West Papua to further evaluate the mandate of the Special Autonomy Law. Both were asked to assess what needs to be added in the legislation so that the process of development in Papua can be accelerated, expanded, and felt by the whole people of that region.

Evaluation of the Special Autonomy Law conducted every five years. In 2006, the evaluation resulted in the formation of the national team to accelerate the development of Papua. Then, through a second evaluation in 2010 formed Accelerated Development Unit Papua and West Papua (UP4B) in 2011 to further accelerate the process of development in the two regions.
“In addition to speeding up the development process, this meeting is to remind president mandate that requested the governor of Papua and West Papua together to stop the movement of armed groups that still exist in Papua.” he said.

In this occasion, the Governor of Papua and West Papua gave report on work-related efforts and programs that have been implemented. In addition, statements relating to the evaluation and further development related to the mandate of the Special Autonomy Law No. 21/2001 will be discussed by the relevant ministries.
