PAPUAN BOXERS DOMINATE FRIENDLY BOUTS IN VANIMO.

Jayapura, 8/6 (Jubi) – An Indonesian  boxing team from Papua won against their opponents from Papua New Guinea during Friendship Games held in Vanimo, June 7 & 8, 2014.

Manager team, Carol Renwarin sent 3 female boxers and 4 male boxers. The team won 4 titles, and the home team won 3.

In the first match on Saturday, June 7, 2014, seven amateur boxers competed against PNG boxers. Three games of opening match of women class, all are won by Papua boxers. Sofia Rosalia Mofu bet TKO PNG boxer, Rose Tom. At the second game, Norbertha Tajum defeat TKO PNG boxer Judith Wkumu PNG and the last match, Sussy Eppa won on points over PNG boxer, Nolyn Stanly.

While at the party men of 49 kg class, PNG boxer Epsy Wai won on points against Papuan boxer Emmanuel Kaway. This match was full with 2000 cheering supporters who packed the boxing both sides open field Vanimo Grand Stand. Then in the 69 kg class, Papuan boxer, Geisler AP Darius beat PNG boxer
“In this class, Darius is a talented PNG boxer with full support of supporters occupied Grand Stand Arena,” said Carol Renwarin.

In the 60 kg class, Adriano Mofu Papuan boxer beat Doriga Danilo. In additional matches held on the selection boxer to PNG Games Sandaun Province, PNG boxer Willy Tai won TKO over Sam Ferold Fuadi. In technique and maturity aspects, Fuadi is more qualified to win the game but was accidentally injured his leg after falling in the ring for three times.

At the closing ceremony, Consul of Indonesia Vanimo handed medals and the overall championship trophy to the team manager, Carol Renwarin. While the runner was given to managers Boxing Vanimo Luke Tom.

Indonesian Consul Vanimo, Jahar Gultom at the closing ceremony told his appreciation for all the citizens of PNG’s role in ensuring a friendly boxing match between RI-PNG Post Cross-border atmosphere amid the two countries that have not fully recovered in operation.
“We will continue to increase people to people contact through activities that involve the citizens of both countries,” he added.

Last year, boxing team of Vanimo practiced boxing and conduct joint exercises with Papuan boxers in Jayapura Cenderawasih Sasana. The Vanimo boxers from got physical training and did sparring match.
