Jayapura, Jubi – Three swimmers from Papua contributed three gold medals for the Indonesian contingent in the 2015 ASEAN Para Games (APG) in Singapore. said the chairman of Papua Paralympic Committee, Jayakusuma to Jubi through social account on last week.

He further informed Moses Karubaba won 100m freestyle with 58 seconds, Menaser Numberi also received gold in a number freestyle in the S12 group with a record time of 1 minute 07 seconds.

While, Melianus Yowey won gold in the 100m breaststroke with a record time of 1 minute 14.79 seconds after beating his opponents from Thailand and Malaysia.

This record time is better than the Asian Para Games record of 1 minute 17 seconds over his own name in the 2014 Asian Para Games 2014 in Inchoen.

“Thus, Papuan swimmers contributed 6 gold medals, 4 silver and 1 bronze. This is such a progress” he wrote short.

Meanwhile, quoted by Antara, the Minister of Youth and Sports (Affairs) Imam Nahrawi proud to the paraolympic athletes who got golds on the second day of 2the 2015 ASEAN Para Games (APG) in Singapore on Friday.

“Congratulations to the athletes who win gold for Indonesia, especially for those who broke a new record in the games,” said Imam Nahrawi.

Separately, an athlete from Papua who also won gold medal, Marianus stated this achievement was a result of his hard working.

“Thanks to God who has granted me strength. I also want to thank my family for the support as well as the government ,” said Marinus. (Sindung Sukoco/ Tina)
