Nawipa’s arrival was marked by a traditional ceremony described as a symbol of the close relationship and strong sense of kinship between the Central Papua provincial government and the people of Deiyai.

The governor was presented with a noken and a traditional headdress, while traditional dances formed part of the welcoming ceremony — symbolising what local organisers described as the community’s sincere acceptance of the provincial leader.

After arriving in Waghete, the capital of Deiyai Regency, at 7.20pm Papua time, Governor Nawipa greeted members of the regional leadership coordination forum, who were introduced by Regent Melkianus Mote.

The governor and his delegation were then invited to rest and share dinner with local officials.

The working visit is intended to strengthen coordination and cooperation between the Central Papua provincial government and the Deiyai Regency administration.

The visit also aims to ensure development programs reach communities in villages, allow the government to hear residents’ concerns directly, and help accelerate progress in education, healthcare, infrastructure and the local economy.

“The Governor’s presence this afternoon is not merely a visit. It is proof that we are part of Central Papua and that we are receiving attention,” Regent Melkianus Mote said.

“We hope this visit will bring real benefits and progress for all the people of Deiyai.” (*)
